Two editions, one principle
Odoo comes in two editions, and the choice between them is about features, not freedom. Community is open-source and free. Enterprise adds functionality under a subscription. Either way, you can run it on hardware you own.
Enterprise, without the confusion
An Enterprise subscription is between you and Odoo. You bring your own licensed .deb; we never redistribute it, cache it or resell it. What we do is run it well for you — install, migrate, upgrade, back up — on your server, with your subscription intact.
Start on Community, grow into Enterprise
Plenty of businesses start on Community and move to Enterprise later when a feature justifies it. Because the data and the deployment are yours, that's a clean edition upgrade — not a migration to a different vendor's world.
No lock-in, either way
The point isn't which edition you pick. It's that the keys stay with you. Whatever you choose, you keep the right to run it yourself, with us, or with someone else entirely.
